During those maps your students will graduate from the university and provide instant or permanent bonuses ( permanent on 6 map run only ). You can juggle relationships with the major factions and if they like you well enough, you can buy additional cards from them, or even ask them to delay Big Evil before the Dark Lord arrives. Each location has unique flaws/perks and a round specific challenge. Proper randomization creates obstacles and opportunities, bad randomization railroads or even dictates gameplay. There is a game breaking bug that was reported back in 2020. Game is quirky buy ultimately there is minimal strategy, you end up doing the same thing over and over. Most of the game is spent waiting passively until I can afford another card, which I then automatically buy because there's nothing else to do with my resources.
